Every year the participants of the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) transform the Haus der Musik Innsbruck into a kind of musical labyrinth. The pieces are performed in lobbies, stairwells, and the lecture halls of the Innsbruck department of the University Mozarteum as well as in the building’s smaller concert halls. Here, as in previous years, listeners will hear top-class and diverse short concerts performed by the participants of the IEMA and carefully rehearsed with the help of instructors of the Frankfurt-based Ensemble Modern. What is striking about this year’s programme is that not only are a higher than usual number of works by female composers, but that most of them are also quite young. It appears that change in the classical music business has already begun.

The International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) is supported by: Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, City of Schwaz, City of Innsbruck, Innsbruck Tourismus
