Duo Bertocini/ Lehn
Tiziana Bertoncini, violin / Thomas Lehn, analogue synthesizer
When German meticulousness and Italian free-spiritedness come together, the outcome has to be something special. Although the North Rhine-Westphalia-born Thomas Lehn is a virtuoso on the analogue synthesizer, there is probably no other electronic musician who responds to his musical environment with such discipline and alertness. His imagination is spurred by the creative violin playing of his Italian duo partner Tiziana Bertoncini. Part of the reason these two artists fit together so well might be the fact that each has been enriching the improv scene in Vienna for several years or that both started their careers with a solid classical music background – Bertoncini in Siena, Lehn (as a pianist) in Detmold and Cologne. The duo has been performing together since 2002, which has perhaps helped to forge the blind trust in each other they share.
