Hsin-Huei Huang piano

Taiwan-born pianist Hsin-Huei Huang has been living and working in Vienna for quite some time now. In addition to solo appearances, she plays in numerous ensembles and orchestras, including Klangforum Wien and the Arditti Quartet. At KLANGSPUREN she presents a survey of 100 years of Austrian piano music illustrating major developmental strides in musical aesthetics. In the beginning we will hear Drei Klavierstücke op. 11 by Arnold Schönberg written in 1909 in free expressive atonality. Friedrich Cerha’s Klavierstück 1958 represents the “dry” pointillism of post-war composition oriented on twelve-tone serialism. In drei klavierstücke from 2004 Beat Furrer shows the facets of a highly differentiated structural crafting, while in Der schlafende Landmann... Klaus Lang in constant and varying repetition savors the cliché of the dominant-tonic relationship and evokes splinters of stereotypical classical piano music déjà-vu. In Peter Parker, Spiderman’s alter ego, Bernhard Gander uses the piano to explore the pop-cultural superhero in a wild and virtuoso manner.
